About the vacancy

    In this role, the Women’s Head Coach is responsible for influencing the performance and development of a thriving Scotland Women’s national team.
    The Scotland Women’s team will be competing in ODI’s and T20I’s against ICC associate and full member international teams. The national team have successfully qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup, taking place in October 2024 in Bangladesh. The expectation will be for the team to build on the performances from the recent WCQ T20 campaign with a view to delivering outstanding performances on the pitch, which inspire people of all ages to engage with the team and develop the game of cricket in Scotland, with a strategic focus of further developing the women’s and girls’ game.

Key Responsibilities

    •The Head Coach will have responsibility for the preparation, performance, and management of the Scotland Women’s national team in all formats of the game.
    •Qualification for major tournaments and the ability to compete effectively at ICC global events will be a key area of focus.
    •The Head Coach will be responsible for developing a squad which meets and exceeds the strategic and performance objectives as set out by Cricket Scotland, being directly accountable in the first instance to the Head of Performance.
    •The Head Coach will possess the characteristics, lived experience and motivation to connect with players at various stages in their careers in match play and training settings, enabling the team to perform on the field and to continue to develop and transition a multi-skilled talent pool into the Scotland Women’s national team.
    •The Head Coach will lead and line-manage a team of consultant/part time support staff, including Batting and Bowling Coaches and a Medical Officer, and collaborate with outsourced SIS Head of Physical Preparation, Physio, consultant specialists, and the Cricket Scotland Operations team.
    •The Head Coach will be engaged and work with Cricket Scotland’s talent pathway with a view to helping aid their transition into international cricket.
    •The Head Coach will be a member of the national selection panel.

Key Competencies

    The Head Coach will be expected to demonstrate evidence of the following skills and experiences:
    •Extensive experience of elite cricket coaching within a Women’s team environment.
    •Experience of working within a high-performance environment, managing a high-performance programme.
    •Experience of managing a team with responsibility for creating and driving a high-performance culture that delivers results.
    •Experience of strategic planning and delivery.
    •Proven leadership and management skills, with experience leading and motivating coaching and support staff.
    •Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
    •Be fluent in written and spoken English
    •Be able to comfortably work with a range of I.T. applications, specifically athlete management software and performance analysis software

Desired Qualifications

    ECB Level 4 or Specialist Coach course or equivalent.
