About the organisation

    As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.
    We have five regional centres – Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Cardonald and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any of NHS 24’s regional centres. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional centre to attend if required and must also be able to travel to other regional centres when requested to attend meetings, undertake training and any other activities.

About the vacancy

    The role of the Engagement Manager is to support and where necessary deputise for the Participation and Equalities Manager in assuming a lead in the planning and delivery of strategies, policies and systems for internal as well as external stakeholder engagement.
    The postholder will be responsible for the strategic planning and deployment of specific engagement projects supporting organisational programmes of work, with the overarching aim of embedding Stakeholder Engagement as the cornerstone of the design, development and delivery of services across our public, partners and staff. They will also assume a key governance role, gathering and analysing stakeholder/user insight to support development and delivery of person centred and effective services.

Key Responsibilities

    • Providing leadership and guidance across an extensive programme of engagement activity.
    • Responsibility for planning, co-ordinating and undertaking engagement with members of the public and stakeholders to promote an improved understanding of who NHS 24 are and what we do.
    • Developing relationships with stakeholders that can help NHS 24 to achieve its strategic aims.
    • Responsibility for developing and delivering strategies to involve members of the public in the design, development and improvement of our services, helping to ensure that public views inform what we do.
    • Collating and analysing complex data, including workforce data, to help inform future actions.
    • Managing NHS 24’s volunteers who participate in the Public Partnership Forum and Youth Forum.
    • Supporting NHS 24 to meet its duties under the Equality Act 2010 and other relevant associated legislation.

Key Competencies

    • Demonstrate significant experience of managing extensive programmes of engagement autonomously.
    • Evidence a sound, demonstrable knowledge and application of different engagement and communications methodologies

Desired Qualifications

    Educated to SCQF level 10 or equivalent experience, particularly in relation to programme and stakeholder management.
