- Established in 2000, ACOSVO is a membership organisation for voluntary sector leaders in Scotland. With a growing membership of over 700 individuals, its leaders range from smaller, community-based organisations to those leading the largest charities in Scotland.
About the vacancy
- ACOSVO is a small team with big aspirations, looking for an eager and excited new member. We are seeking a Communications and Events Officer to support the Communications and Events team to deliver our events programme and social media, as well as communicate marketing and informational materials to our members and relevant stakeholders.
ACOSVO encourages staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and as such we are happy to talk about flexible working such as location, hours, etc. to maximise job satisfaction and productivity. Hours must however be worked within our core hours of 8am-6pm Monday to Friday. Ideally, we would like the post-holder to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, however we will consider other options.
Please note that this role is not suitable for less than 18 hours or as a job share. The location for this role is hybrid, with a purpose-driven approach, working from home or our workspace at Greyfriars Charteris Centre at Pleasance Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities
- The Communications and Events Manager will be closely involved in training, instructing and leading on the Communications and Events Officer’s work and will set tasks and project works such as;
Support with the planning, and undertake organisational tasks for the ASCOSVO events programme
Delivery of online and in person events : compiling pre and post-event delegate packs, booking venues and catering, acting as moderator for online events through designated IT platform, and co-ordinate ‘day-of’ management for small in-person events
Manage post-event evaluation forms and generate reports supporting monitoring of performance and collecting insight
Undertake ACOSVO Social Media and Email marketing by creating monthly content calendars, proposing campaign ideas, scheduling social media posts, creating graphics, proof reading, creating mailings, and administering general communications tasks

Key Competencies
- Exemplary customer service skills is essential, as you will often be the first point of contact for our members and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience with social media management, online events, a strong grasp of written communication, and is comfortable writing creative copy and generating ideas. This is the perfect role for someone who is well organised, has an eye for detail, and a degree of self-management using initiative, discretion and judgement.

Desired Qualifications
- Educated to level 6 of Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework or equivalent.
