About the organisation
- As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.
About the vacancy
- The UX Designer is responsible for researching, designing, and implementing all user experiences when interacting with a digital product or tool. To ensure the end user experience is improved the post holder will engage with key stakeholders to better understand their needs and goals, conduct usability and accessibility testing, design user flows and prototypes. You will also be responsible for creating and supporting continuous user experience improvement across NHS 24.
Key Responsibilities
- • Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups that effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.
• Work in collaboration with the IT Test Team to create, maintain and report on project exception logs which reflects the exceptions discovered during testing.
• Identify the impacts upon people, processes, and technology that a proposed solution and/or decision may have, including financial impact.
• Assess and report on highly complex technical information and situations requiring analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options in order to ensure NHS 24 Technology proposals and solutions offer the best match to organisational need.
• Interpret national legislation, such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), to ensure that NHS 24’s ICT & Digital deliverables are compliant and meet the required standards.
Key Competencies
- • Be experienced in conducting user research, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and justify design decisions.
• Have proven experience as a UX Designer, with a portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and solutions.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, or equivalent experience
