About the vacancy
- Anyone can sign up to our Ancient Tree Inventory (ATI) and record an ancient tree on their own. However, we also know that many people would like the opportunity to record trees as a group, perhaps just for one day. Organising a Tree Recording Group Volunteering Day is a great way for your group to get involved in a flexible, short-term volunteering role at the Woodland Trust, helping make a huge difference for woods and trees.
You may be running your day as a faith group, a community group, or as the leader of a youth / uniform group. But whoever and wherever you are, you’re helping us to protect trees!
By signing up you will receive a pack of resources to help you plan your group volunteering day, which you can carry out at a time and location of your choice.
Key Responsibilities
- • Organising a tree recording volunteering day for your group, using the resources provided by the Woodland Trust.
• Completing an evaluation form after you've planned and delivered your group volunteering day, helping us with our monitoring and reporting.
Key Competencies
- • Basic organisational skills
• Ability to sign up to the Ancient Tree Inventory online

How to Apply
An interview and two references will be required for this role, and training will need to be completed before the role commences. Please ensure you have known referees for more than 6 months and they are not a partner, close relative, or Woodland Trust employee. Former or current work colleagues, friends, volunteers, and neighbours that have known you for more than 6 months are some examples that would be fine. Expenses will be reimbursed for return journeys from home based on public transport cost or mileage at standard rates for the Woodland Trust. As a volunteer you may have the opportunity to support the Trust at events in your area. We will contact you when these occasions arise to see if you are available and would like to help.
