About the organisation

    Children in Scotland is a national charity working to improve children’s lives. We believe it is really important to listen to children and act on what they tell us. All our work is aimed at upholding children’s rights. Changing our World exists to make sure that Children in Scotland had children and young people involved in our work as an organisation and to give a platform to children and young people. Changing our World work on lots of different things including planning events, sharing views on key issues for children and young people and helping Children in Scotland with recruitment.

About the vacancy

    Changing our World is made up of children and young people aged 8 to 25 who inform Children in Scotland’s work by sharing their views and experiences directly. Members also contribute to events, particularly Children in Scotland’s Annual Conference. CoW members play a critical role in the delivery of the conference from co-chairing the two-day event, to selecting workshops for the programme, and influencing the conference messaging.

Key Responsibilities

    • Come to regular meetings (some online and some in person)
    • Take opportunities to talk about your experiences and share your opinions on issues that are really important to young people
    • Take opportunities to think about what you would like to change and how we can do that together
    • Work on a range of activities and projects in lots of different ways. There is something that will suit and interest everyone!
    • Take opportunities to meet decision makers and make change!

Key Competencies

    • Aged 8-22
    • Enthusiastic about sharing your experiences and views on a range of topics
    • Happy to work as part of a team

Desired Qualifications

    No specific qualifications are required. Note, however, that the age condition ( 8 - 22 ) is important.

How to Apply

Applying to join the group is really easy. All you need to do is tell us a little bit about your self, including:
• Name
• Age
• Where in Scotland you live
• A bit about yourself.

We encourage people to apply in ways that work for them. You can send us an email, a video, a presentation or some art work. How do we choose members? We will choose new members for the group from the applications. It is really important that we have a diverse group, this means when choosing our applicants we will try to make sure we have a range of ages, backgrounds and experiences.
